Jose Zanine Caldas 'Custom Made’ Exhibition' Chairs
These chairs were made specifically for one of José Zanine Caldas's final exhibitions and remained with his family until after his death — about as close to direct designer provenance as vintage furniture gets. Zanine Caldas spent his career moving between architectural model-making, industrial furniture design and, later, the sculptural "protest furniture" that made his name internationally; these chairs, in plywood with a sharply geometric leg structure, sit somewhere in that later, more experimental register. A photograph from the original Brazilian exhibition is included among the listing images. Offered here as a pair with arms; a matching pair without arms is listed separately.
