Extra Large Brazilian Jacaranda Sofa — Custom Made, 1960s
This Brazilian mid-century sofa reads as a genuine one-off commission rather than a manufacturer's production piece — a substantial jacaranda frame, its grain running in the deep reds and blacks the wood is prized for, built to a scale and proportion suggesting it was made for a specific room rather than a showroom floor. Jacaranda of this density and colour is now a protected species, unavailable to source new, which places real weight behind any piece built from it at this scale. The frame retains its structural integrity and original form; the sofa is offered as a restoration project, to be brought back in upholstery and finish to the next owner's specification rather than pre-restored to a fixed outcome.
